Star Wars Weekends
Star Wars Weekends are a part of a month long celebration in Walt Disney World. Sadly, I only got to experience one day of them this year, but I got to celebrate all month long last year. Every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for four weeks, special characters and celebrities come to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
This is Roxy. She’s a life-size Rancor that travels to different conventions all over the states. It was really cool to see her at Star Wars Weekends this year. She crouches at a full 17 feet tall! It was really cool to take a picture with her.
Leia hangs out at the weekends too!
A couple of my friends got attacked by one of the Tuskan Raiders!
And then there’s my boy. I do love me some Boba Fett. Last year, I waited in line to see him 5 times…in 1 day! I really do have a Boba Fettish.
I had to put on my most serious face to take a picture with the one and only Lord Vader. That was fantastic, just being in his presence. I’m glad that he didn’t force choke me though!
I think the Jawas are super neat, but mostly because they’ll trade for junk in your pocket. If they see something shiny on you, they’ll get excited and try and get you to trade. But they don’t trade for money.
This little lady is by far my favorite. Her name is Ashley Eckstein and she is the voice of Ahsoka Tano on Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In my eyes, she’s far better known for her creation of the lady nerd clothing line, Her Universe. Look for a discussion of that next week.
I think meeting stars and characters is really cool. I got an autograph from Ray Park, aka Darth Maul, but I didn’t get a picture of him. He was so kind, I was very taken aback by that.
Along with having super awesome people and characters at SWW, there is amazing merchandise as well.
I have to admit, there is one limited edition item that takes the cake, quite literally.
This is a special edition cupcake. It costs about $5, and is worth every penny. It’s a chocolate cupcake with peanut butter frosting and is completely edible, except for the wrapper. It is so delicious, and its my favorite part of Star Wars Weekends.
There are also real props from the movies, like the ever lovely Han Solo, frozen in carbonite.
I almost forgot! Every night of SWW, there is a Hyperspace Hoopla!
It’s fantastic, and a lot of fun. Every year, the story builds off of the previous year’s.
That wraps it up for now, Fangirls. May the Force be with you!
