Fangirls! Two weeks ago when we discussed issue three of the comic series Sex, there was an intense & lovely masturbation scene with Annabelle Lagravenese / Shadow Lynx. So I that presented a lovely opportunity for us to talk & learn about masturbation!

Ahh, masturbation. Wanking. Jerking off. The sexual stimulation of one’s own genitals, usually to the point of orgasm. Masturbation has been happening for thousands of years, dating back all the way to depictions on prehistoric rock paintings. Studies show that it is frequented by people of all ages & genders. Humans love to touch themselves and they have every reason to. It not only feels great, but it really does improve your health. The orgasm does wonders for your body. Research shows that regular masturbation to orgasm can lower blood pressure, lower the risk of prostate cancer in males, relieve stress & depression, increase self-esteem, and make one feel overall more relaxed & content.

There’s been a lot of taboo & negativity around masturbation. Before the 20th century-ish, masturbation was not an okay thing to be doing. It was believed to cause all sorts of problems like insanity and impotence and even death. But, we all now know that isn’t true and that masturbation is a lovely thing. But of course, there’s still negativity surrounding some things regarding masturbation. It’s always thought to be more of an activity done by males. And though the number of men who masturbate regularly is higher than females, that doesn’t mean that ladies do not regularly touch themselves and it certainly doesn’t mean that it’s not alright for them to be doing so. Women have every right to enjoy themselves just as much as anyone else.

Some of the fun of masturbation is that there’s so many ways to do it. You can just use your hands, toys, someone else’s hands, all sorts of things. In the third issue of Sex, we observe Annabelle using a vibrator to pleasure herself. There’s all sorts of toys for both genders to use, lots of techniques to try, different “grips”. There’s mutual masturbation, in which participants stimulate each others genitals. There’s all sorts of things to try, Fangirls! Just be sure to always be safe & clean!
