Fangirls! Last week, the second Captain America movie, Winter Soldier, arrived. And boy, was it an arrival. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, just as I did the first one. Marvel has done it once again.
Watch out! Spoilers afoot!
I’m joining the Marvel party a little late, comics & movie wise. I only started reading their comics a few months ago, and not long before that saw my first taste at their recent movie releases. Coincidentally, the first movie that I saw that’s associated with their newest tales was Captain America, which I loved. I was ecstatic to hear that not long from then Winter Soldier would be coming out. I was not disappointed.
In this movie, we see Steve Rogers still adjusting to the times, trying to figure out how to be a 95 year old dude at heart. But of course, he’s a bit more occupied with fighting crime. Which he also seems to be doubting. In the movie, Steve talks of leaving S.H.E.I.L.D, and moving on. But, a few things get in the way.
Like the fact that S.H.E.I.L.D has actually been a vehicle of Hydra since it’s beginnings. The discovery of this comes along with a whole host of problems & action. Hydra has plans to take out anyone who is a threat to them, but are going to be playing that out as S.H.E.I.L.D. So, they use the skills & resources available through them to build these super planes that will target these people using an algorithm that figures out if they’re a threat. Obviously, this must be stopped. Enter Cap & Black Widow, along with some other friends, to kick some major booty.
On a bit of a side note, Black Widow is wonderfully showcased in this movie. I think they portrayed her character very well, and set her up nicely for the next movie, and for her very own film in 2016. She’s such a bad ass motherfucker, and I think Scarlet Johansson does a perfect job playing her. Hurray for Black Widow!
I don’t want to give too much away about this movie, because they’re are some many twists and mind fucks that you must experience all on your own. Shit gets quite real, awesome battles are fought, Captain America is a great dude. I’m excited to see his character unfold more, as we now see him losing sight of his drive for life.
If you take my advice, and go see this movie immediately in theaters, Fangirls, make sure you stay for the two extra scenes after the credits. You will be very glad you did.
