Music: Lord Huron

So, Fangirls, I get exposed to a lot of good tunes at work. Few of those awesome tunes, though, are awesome enough to stick with me after I punch out and go home. The other week, a band I hadn’t heard came on. It was good. Really good. And the minute I got home, I looked them up and fell for them. Lord Huron was love at first listen.

Something about their dreamy, intricate indie rock that really catches me. It’s just so enjoyable. Maybe its the distant sounding vocals, or the depth of all the percussion. It could be the layered arrangements of ambient guitar melodies, paired with flowing bass lines. Whatever it is, I adore it.

The first song I heard, the one that came on at work, was “Time to Run”. It starts with this slow & eerie sounding stuff, that slowly works the melodies of the song into it, before picking up into the main chord progression & jumping into the song. The song is upbeat, catchy, with a shimmering sound to it. It sounds like a rich, summery song, but with a multitude of depth to it. It’s just so much fun to listen to.

The song is on the bands one full length album, Lonesome Dream, released in 2012. In addition to that, the band has a few EPs as well. All of these releases, of course, you should check out. Being that their last album was two years ago, I’m hoping that soon, Lord Huron will deliver some new songs for us to jam to. In the meantime, I’ll be busy obsessing over their first album, and you should to. This band is just perfect for summer listening, and enjoying the fuck out of some music.

I can stress how goof this band is to you all I want, Fangirls, but the proof is in the pudding.
