Feminerd: Bitch Media

Fangirls, I am a huge fan of supporting women doing cool things.  I like reading about it, seeing it, and experiencing it.  One of the best things about the internet is that it gives everyone a voice, and some people use it really well.  An outlet that uses it phenomenally is Bitch Media.

I have this problem, where when I don’t really know what to do for a project, or don’t feel like doing any sort of work, I dick about on the internet.  It’s usually not very productive, but the other day I was waiting for the bus, and went down a not-so-dark tunnel full of feminist twitters and websites.  The one that stood out the most was Bitch Media.

Bitch Media is a feminist website and magazine that focuses on open conversations about feminism, and the reality of how unequal our world is.  Their “about us” section says this:

Bitch Media’s mission is to provide and encourage an engaged, thoughtful feminist response to mainstream media and popular culture. We seek to be a fresh, revitalizing voice in contemporary feminism, one that welcomes complex arguments and refuses to ignore the contradictory and often uncomfortable realities of life in an unequivocally gendered world.

Fangirls, if feminism is something you’re interested in, or at least intrigued by, please go read some of the articles on Bitch Media.  You can have stuff sent to your email every week, and read it there or go to their website.

I like it, Fangirls.  The few articles that I’ve read were very opinionated and strong, and that’s what we need.  They are also viewing feminism the way it is defined, both genders are equal, instead of one of the many tropes that people associate with feminism now (women are best, you can’t be feminine and feminist, etc).

So go, fly, my Fangirls!  Check out why bitch is an empowering word over at Bitch Media!
