Holy Harleys, Batman! I’ve been really excited for this issue of Harley Quinn for awhile now; they’ve really been leading up to this for a couple issues now. I definitely didn’t expect it to be as great as it was though!
So this issue follows Harley as she tries to chill out, and find her assistants. She decides that an even dozen is the way to go; six to help with her day-to-day stuff, and six to help her keep the city clean. Problem is, she has tons of applicants! So what does the genius Ms Quinn decide to do? After she interviews and gets rid of a couple ladies, she has the rest fight.
I loved this. I thought it was a super clever way to keep the fight scene fro taking up too many pages, while still keeping with the feeling of violence that we readers have come to love and expect from our girl Harley. I do feel bad for John J Hill, the letterer (shown in the image), for having to do all of that, but as someone who loves typography, I’d kill to do a page full of onomatopoeia!
So Harley keeps the girls who are still standing, and she ends up with quite the bunch. She, Tony, her man, and Eggy work to makeover a building that Harley bought to house all of her dangerous dames; making it suitable for them to live and work there. Harley also pays Queenie to make costumes for her clown compadres, so they can represent with the red and black costumes.
By the end of the issue, everyone is looking fly in their new duds, and I can tel it’ll be an amazing story; once they come back that is. The HQ team has taken this past month off, so they can move and collect their thoughts, but are on their way back in June. I can’t wait to see how they pan out with this gang!
