Welcome to my first Nerds Gotta Drink contribution, Fangirls! I’m very happy to be here. And I’m very happy to showing you one of my cocktails in the name of one of my favorite characters. In more ways than just the name, this drink seemed very fitting for Lockjaw; It’s peppy, packs a punch, and belongs right at your side. It’s a Fangirl’s best friend.
The Colorado Bulldog is a very refreshing drink. It’s smooth and has got great flavor, even though at first it might sound a little weird. I know some folks are hesitate about drinks of the more creamy variety, and then when I get to the cola part I lose them completely. But stick with me, Fangirls. If you’re a fan of coffee, drinks that are a little sweet but not too much, and just the right amount of punch. Look no further. You’ve found your forever companion.
2 oz Kahlua
Cola to top
First, fill a shaker with ice. Add your Kahlua to the shaker and oodle at that rich, brown, nectar of the gods. Then, add the vodka and the cream. You can use light cream, or even milk if you wanted, but I prefer half & half. I find it provides the optimal creaminess.
Next, get to shaking! Shake this stuff up good, until the shaker itself is real cold and you can barely stand it. Feel the burn. This stuff is best when it’s super cold. You may notice that what you just made is a White Russian. But just wait, shit gets extra real in a few moments. For now, strain this cream mixture into a highball glass full of ice.
Here we go, Fangirls. Now, top this mixture with cola. Coke, Pepsi, whatever you please. The amount is really up to you, and your glass. I tend to add a bit, stir it up, then taste it. You don’t want an overpowering cola taste, just enough to peak through that delicious boozy, coffee flavors. And of course, to add a little fizz. I’ve tested out using various varieties of cola, such as the cherry Pepsi seen here. My happiest results have been when using vanilla Coke. Oh yeah.
Stir it up, and you’re set to serve. This is a deliciously sweet treat of a cocktail that I love to enjoy on sunny summer days. I’ve also experimented with adding in a bit of real espresso to give it a real extra coffee kick. Who knew that cola & coffee were such a winning combination? Now you’ve been enlightened, and now you must indulge in one of these Bulldogs. Be careful, though, too many of these and you might end up with a tuning fork on your head.
