Playlist: American Mixtape

mericaIt hasn’t been that long since I last did a playlist, but when I saw that the 4th fell on a Saturday, I couldn’t help it. Here I have a giant heap of good ol’ American tunes to serve up to you, Fangirls. Some old, some new, some quintessential American jams.

I tried to splice those songs that we are obligated to listen to as Americans (the Bruce, the Mellencamp, you know them) with newer jams that are relevant to the holiday and the country. Not all of them are bleeding with patriotism as some of those songs from the 80s are, but they get the job done in making you feel proud. The tunes don’t need to be all about America or the 4th to get your red, white, and blue feelings pumping. So, I added some songs by essential American artists like Fleetwood Mac, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and of course, Beyonce. Also, David Bowie, even though he’s British. He’s essential for every holiday, and will help you get your Independance on.

A M E R I C A N  M I X T A P E

So, go fulfill your American duty and eat hot dogs, drink terrible beer, and eat some goddamn pie. Just be sure to rock out extra hard to this playlist while doing so. If you’re not American, I’m sorry that you have to deal with Americans.
