Hectic Fangirling

Fangirls, I’ve been hella busy lately, so there’s no video for today.  I’ve been all over the place this summer, and I haven’t really talked much about it here, just on my personal twitter.  I am definitely having a blast, but I feel like I owe you all some explanation to what’s going on in my life, because you all really deserve it.  So let me tell you how things have been so far.

Try and find me, I dare you.

Guys, I graduated in May!  That was the first of many big things that have happened this summer.  I’ve been at school since fall of 2010, and have been part-time, and have taken breaks (to intern at Disney), among other things, so it took me quite a while to finish up.  But holy cow am I glad to not be worried about school in the fall!  I now have an Associate’s Degree in Media and Communications; so kind of a major in digital art and a minor in english.  I really thought I wouldn’t be interested in my degree, but I’ve got the software I had while in school, and I keep using it.  I’m really quite grateful to everyone who helped me through school; my family, friends, and professors.

Three days after graduation, I went to Walt Disney World.  My Ohana (the people I met on my first DCP) and I got back together after being apart for three years, and it was beyond amazing.   We were all there for about a week, and I wish I never had to leave them.  These are my favorite people on the planet, and re-experiencing one of the most magical places on earth with them was so amazing and sad.  I wish we could be together all of the time, but being apart makes it so much better when we’re together.  I don’t think I’ve ever cried so much from happiness, as I did on that short vacation.

A week after I was in Walt Disney World, I went to California for a week.  I was lucky enough to win a retweet contest from an Augmented and Virtual Reality Conference called Augmented World Expo.  I won by simply retweeting something, and they gave me a free pass.  I had never experienced anything like it, and actually learned a whole bunch about the field.  I was snubbed for “just” being a contest winner a couple times, but I also met a lot of very kind people.  After the conference, I headed to middle California to meet up with Cassandra from the Ohana.  She took me to Universal Studios Hollywood, where we saw actual movie sets (wow), and then we went to Disneyland, and I cried the whole time.  I may have talked a lot of smack about WDW being the best, but I was so wrong.  Disneyland is where it’s at, and if you ever get the chance, go.

A week and a half after that, I went down to Maryland to see my friend and watch a Super Art Fight.  It was an 80’s themed night, and truly outrageous, as SAF Idol winners dominated the canvasses.  Super Art Fight will remain one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen and experienced, and I highly recommend you check out their biweekly web-shows (one is this Sunday night), and live shows if you get the chance.

Another week off, and then I headed up to Vermont.  In Vermont, I worked with my family members to start updating their website, and take over they social media.  I’m really excited to start doing that, as it’s the type of work I’d really like to be doing, but it’s definitely overwhelming.

After a couple days in Vermont, I headed right down to Connecticut for ConnectiCon.  CTC is a really fantastic convention that I’ve been to for three years now.  I always have a blast; the con is really laid back, and I get to hang out with Super Art Fight the whole time.  It’s such a great experience.

Now you’re all caught up, but what’s next?  I’m currently working to get my affairs in order here and with the social media I just took on, along with the FanArt challenge I gave myself (FanArtJuly), where I make a piece of FanArt daily.  I missed two days, but I’m working to get back on the horse.  I also found out this summer that my friend Brian (of the Ohana), has a very aggressive and rare form of cancer, and is currently undergoing ChemoTherapy.  If you want to help out monetarily, you can go to their gofundme here, or let me know if you’d like to send him a card.  He can use all of the positivity and love you can share.

I hope you Fangirls are all having an exciting summer, but are getting time to relax, because that’s what summer is for, right?
