Appdicted: Studious

IMG_4781I’m going back to school, Fangirls. I graduated high school with no desire to go to college, but still attempted to because that’s what I was “supposed to do”. I quickly left without even finishing one semester, and have spent the last three years working. Now, after finding a direction in my life, I’ve decided to give it the ol’ college try. Hah. But of course, I need some help getting back into the groove of class, exams, and homework. That’s where the Studious app comes in.

I wasn’t the best student in high school. I was pretty disorganized, had trouble with time management, plus I had a terrible attitude about education. I’ve been nervous about going back to school for fear that I’ll fall into my hold habits, or just have trouble flexing muscles I haven’t had to use in a long time. Though Studious can’t help me with all of those problems, it can help me stay organized and stay on top of my work.

Think of this app as one of those agendas you’d get in grade school. Then add in a notebook, and a communication function, and an alarm reminder system. You can write down everything about your homework assignments, tests you have coming up, notes you need to jot down in class, and contact your teachers right from within the app. It’s fucking incredible. And nice to look at.

First is your schedule. You can add in all of your classes, which days you have them, and at which times. Simply add your classes, select one, then choose the days & times you attend it each week. IMG_4784You even get to pick a cute little icon for it, which for visual thinkers like me is a nice little tip. Then, the app will place it in a handy schedule for you which you can easily access. If anything about the class ever changes, or you drop it, you can quickly edit it right from the schedule, too. From the schedule, you can at a glance see if you’ve got homework assignments or upcoming tests for each class. Nifty!

IMG_4789Which brings me to adding your homework and exams. When clicking the homework tab, you can select a class, then add an assignment. Not just the title, but details of the work, when it’s due, and when to remind you to do it. Brilliant.

IMG_4786Adding tests works just the same. You’re able to select which class it’s for, then add in all of it’s handy information. Entering notes is also easy, simply title the note and type away! Just be careful of those in-class phone policies.

IMG_4788If you happen to get any questions while looking through your assignments, there’s no need to close this app and open another to email your professor. You have a whole contact page just for your teaches, and link it to your email address. Have a question, click a button and have an email open to contact any teacher you need to. Skablam!

IMG_4787For the modern student, there is no better app than Studious. For the previously disorganized, worried about their old study habits returning student, this is the app. Armed with this, I can handle anything the upcoming semester throws at me. Bring on the homework. Just not too much, please?
