Fangirls, I’m a big fan of Gravity Falls. It’s incredibly intense, has fun characters and designs, and is downright silly at some points; it’s an amazing combination. I lost my mind last week when I found out that there was a brand spankin’ new GF game out, and I bought it as soon as I got out of work that afternoon.
WATCH OUT: there are big storyline spoilers after the break.
Gravity Falls Gnome Gemulets is about Dipper and Mabel trying to help Jeff, the leader of the Gnomes, reclaim the forest’s Gemulets. He says that they were stolen from him. So our two favorite adventurers go out in search of the Gemulets. They fight these massive beasts, and gain their own powers along the way.
But when all four Gemulets are returned, Jeff doesn’t give them the pile of Gnome gold he promised them; instead he uses them to turn into a massive beast and start destroying the town and forest. It’s up to Dipper and Mabel to stop what they’ve accidentally created!
The game is super rad because it’s incredibly simple (my play time was under 3 hours), but there are fun things to collect throughout the game (and after you beat it too). A ton of people in Gravity Falls have lost their stuff, and if you return it to them, they have to tell you a secret!
I also really enjoyed that you can play the game as both Dipper and Mabel. I love Mabel because she’s a precious baby unicorn and she’s perfect, so I spent most of the game as her. She and Dipper have different abilities, so both are necessary to beat the game (Mabel has an awesome grappling hook and sweater-arm-whips, and Dipper has power bracelets and his shrinking/growing flashlight).
Altogether, it’s a phenomenal game. It’s easy and inexpensive ($29.99 instead of the usual $39.99 for new DS releases), and I had a blast the whole time I played it.
