I really love waffles, Fangirls. But before the other day, I had never made them. I was intimidated by it, but I went to bed thinking like Donkey from Shrek. But honestly, the character who really understands how to do waffles best is Steven Universe. He makes Together Breakfast in an episode with the same name. So I wanted to make some Together Breakfast too!
For the waffles I needed:
2 cups flour
1 3/4 cups milk
vegetable oil I changed to Canola when I saw how little vegetable oil we had
1 tbsp sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
I beat the eggs until they were fluffy, then added the other ingredients and beat it until it was pretty dang smooth. Then I plugged in our waffle iron, and waited for it to get hot. When it was, I sprayed it with nonstick spray, and started loading it up with batter.
While my waffles were cooking, I took some frozen strawberries out of their bag and set them aside. I also popped some popcorn; Pop-Secret’s Sea Salt Popcorn, to be specific. I took a cup of that and set it aside as well. By this point, my first waffles were done, and I handed them off to my hungry stepdad, who I had promised waffles. Then I poured in more batter and made some whipped cream with 1/3 cup each of sugar and heavy cream (beaten until it’s fluffy).
Once my waffles were set, I plated them with some syrup, popcorn, whipped cream, and a strawberry. Goodness gracious Fangirls, it was so much better than I expected. The salty and sweet flavors went so well together, and it was phenomenal. The waffle recipe made several more waffles, and I had extra whipped cream that is hanging out in my fridge now. It was nice to learn how to make waffles, and to not feel like a fool for not being able to make waffles anymore!
This recipe made me believe in Steven; it was easy and fun, and learning new things is always good! I can’t wait to have together breakfast all the time.
