Jem and the Holograms Issue 11

Ohhhhh maaaaaan, Fangirls. This issue is packed with adorable relationships, terrible singers, and the cutest swimsuits and I really can not handle it. So let’s just dive in.

While Pizzazz is still in recovery, the rest of the Misfits have a date with their label. They get to the studio to find out that if they don’t have a singer for their upcoming tour (with Jem and the Holograms), they’re in breach of contract and will be in very serious trouble. So they have to audition new singer, and it’s all absolutely terrible.

Meanwhile, the ladies at the Benton house are prepping for a pool party, but they gave Jerricha the time off; she does all of their planning (as their manager), so she seems a bit stretched thin. They plan and invite everyone to the party, and it’s one big reminder about why I love reading Jem and the Holograms; there are so many body types in some of the cutest swimsuits I have ever seen. I almost exploded reading it.

While the ladies are getting the party ready, though, Jerricha is relaxing. Synergy comes in, asking if she can play something for Jerricha. Of course, J says yes. The stuff Synergy looks like it sounds like modem startup noise from early internet days, and Jerricha is 100% not about it. But then, out of nowhere, she is. She asks Synergy to play it again, and it shows J with black earrings instead of pink. Not a great omen.

By the time she appears at the pool party, she looks completely different. I have a feeling that this Dark Jem is going to be auditioning to be the Misfits’ new singer, and that she’s going to do very well. I’m very surprised at her change, but with the issue being labelled Dark Jem Part One, I couldn’t be too surprised. Who knows how they’ll get her back!
