Keep Curious and Carry a Banana: Wisdom From the World of Curious George

Fangirls, I hate to admit it, but I fell into the “keep calm and” trap awhile ago. Part of me hates it; I’m rarely all that calm, and I’m not a big fan of being told what to do. But the other part of me adores it. It’s a great design formula; centered helvetica with simple variations. It’s awesome! But I also really enjoy having beloved childhood characters help me with life lessons. This book embodies all of that, in about 100 pages.

Keep Curious and Carry a Banana is a beautiful tribute to Curious George. Every page has a picture from a Curious George book and a simple life lessons from it. None come off as scolding; they’re all supportive and positive statements.

Though this isn’t a book that takes long to read, or follows a storyline, it’s a good book to have around. It’s full of reminders to be playful and enjoy what you’re doing; something many adults forget.

I recommend this book because it’s inexpensive, fun, and adorable. I think it would be a great alternative to Oh, The Places You’ll Go as a graduation present.
