Today is the day, Fangirls. I’m currently on a train to New York Penn Station, where I will transfer to a train to Baltimore Penn Station, and become a permanent resident of the State of Maryland. I don’t like eating crabs (since I’m vegetarian), but I’m excited to taste what other fantastic foods the state has to offer. One of the things I have been looking forward to for months is meal planning.
Meal planning is when you start each week by preparing or at least planning out which meals you’re going to eat and make that week. It’s basically exactly what the name says. It’s an incredibly useful way to do your grocery shopping (particularly your listing), and a good way to make yourself stay on track with spending, diet, and eating out. It seems like a good thing from every angle!
Though I’m sure planning out our meals in advance won’t be quite as easy as it sounds, I’m excited for the challenge. My goal is to plan out dinners for the week on Sundays; we can do research and make sure we’ve got all the right things like fruits and veggies and everything to keep our diet balanced. After the meals are planned, we can raid our kitchen to see what ingredients we have, list out what we need, and go grocery shopping.
I love grocery shopping. I feel like that’s an incredibly dangerous statement, but I really do enjoy making food, and the best place to find new foods to try is the grocery store. Plus there are so many beautiful fruits and veggies, and unique types of things like fig jam and colorful pasta. It’s great! So we can grocery shop, then do everything but the cooking on our meals for the week. We can chop and prep in every way, and label and move on. It’s definitely something that will be easier once there are only 2 of us in the apartment, but I’m still excited to try.
I’m nervous, Fangirls. Not so much about new recipes, but about new places. I’m excited to share food with friends that I haven’t been able to cook for before (hello friends I love making waffles please visit for breakfast for dinner sometime), along with being able to take care of myself in every way. Thanks for your continued support!
