Green Tea Face Mask from Sephora

Remember how I said that I wasn’t going to be buying new products? Well, that feels like quite the lie right now. Recently I bought Sephora’s Green Tea Face Mask. I knew that it was going to be a higher quality mask, because Sephora is a higher quality company. I grabbed just that and a nail polish the day I went, so I didn’t quite have to sell any vital organs to afford it. The mask only ended up being about $6, which isn’t bad for Sephora.

The mask claims to hydrate and mattify your face, and to me, that sounds perfect. Though hydration isn’t something lacking in my routine, matte skin is. I love the way matte looks, be it on my nails, designs, or my face. Sadly, I’ve had issue trying to find a product that really makes me look matte (and in my mind, classier). So I figured I may as well give it a go.

It was a bit of a weird experience; I’m not going to lie to you. Though I love when masks make things easy, I always feel like the pre-shaped masks make me look like Leatherface (which usually isn’t my goal). But, the way the mask looks while it is on is honestly one of the least important things about a face mask, so I’ll get over it.

It felt amazing. Just, so good. There was a bit of a tingle, but mostly I just felt like my face was cooling down; I loved that. In the summer heat, I really appreciated the cooling and the tingle. It was relaxing and calming. The instructions said to leave on for 15 minutes, massage it into your face to help soak in any excess, and you’d be all set. So that’s what I did. When my 15 minutes of mask were up, I massaged it into my face, removed the mask, massaged my face again, and went to check myself out.

Though the instructions said not to wash my face afterwards, that’s all I wanted to do. My face didn’t feel sticky, but it felt tacky; the way your nails feel when you try to do them on a very hot or humid day. I left it alone. By the time I had to walk to work, my face was dry, and didn’t feel as tacky. I didn’t feel very matte, though. My face still had shiny spots, and I was bummed because the matte look will forever and always be my goals. That just means the hunt shall continue.

Luckily, I enjoyed using this mask. I’m still a bit bummed that I didn’t get to be matte and classy af after using it, but I will survive. The mask smelled wonderful, was cooling and relaxing, and overall was a good time. I recommend it, but keep in mind that your face will feel a bit weird for about an hour after you use it. If you’re interested in trying it out for yourself, you can order it here.
