I am a self-proclaimed concert addict. If I can see and hear and experience something live, I will. I love the thrill and energy and adrenaline rush of going to a live concert. Recently, I got to see one of the greatest shows I’ve ever experienced live, and it was TWRP and Ninja Sex Party.
Let’s start with TWRP. I have to admit, I’ve never really listened to them before except for what they’ve done with NSP. After their set, I’m definitely a fan. If you’ve never heard of TWRP, they’re full name is TupperWare Remix Party. They are, as they say, a band from the 80s AND the future AND outerspace AND Toronto Canada. Their set was so much fun. The talent they is incredible and the energy they put out was easily matched by the crowd. They for sure gained a new fan that night.
And then Ninja Sex Party came out. I get an adrenaline rush just thinking about how amazing their set was. They poured out so much energy, and we sent it back twice as strong. Every song they did I knew (thankfully – I don’t know all of their songs), and I sang along along with everyone else in this crowd of thousands.
Not only did they play some of their best songs, they also played two new songs. One was from the upcoming Under the Covers 2 (coming out in October) and a brand new original song that instantly became my favorite from them. I can’t wait for it to come out so I can constantly listen to it. We also got to see a new music video that is incredible. I can’t wait for it to be released.
One of the best moments in the show – and there are a lot – was the reimagining of Dinosaur Laser Fight. That’s one of my favorite songs by them, and for this tour they slowed it down. It was just Danny, Brian, and a keyboard. Oh, and thousands of us singing along. It was an incredible moment. What else was incredible was that some people actually had lighters for this moment. I’m not sure how that whole hold-up-a-lighter tradition started but these days most people use the flashlights on their phones. Not these three people near me. They all had lighters lit and in the air.
One of the other best moments was before any of this actually happened. Someone realized that Avi, Danny’s father, and Granny Sexbang were in the audience on a balcony and we all chanted and cheered for them. And Danny heard us backstage and posted a video of us cheering on his family and it was such a moment for everyone in the theater.
Everything about this concert was just fantastic. It ended at 11 and my adrenaline rush from it didn’t end until 1:30 in the morning. And I still feel it whenever I remember the show or talk about it. I will absolutely be going to another live show of theirs. No question about it.
