January Wrap-Up & February Goals

Alright, I’m going to start off by saying I didn’t read all of my books for January. I read as many as I wanted to, but not the exact books. Oops.

So I read White Stag, Talk to Me, Mirage, The Martin Chronicles, Mothman’s Curse, and Sweet Pea. I really enjoyed all of them, and I think my favorite of the month was Talk to Me, especially since it surprised me so much.

February, though, things are getting serious. I have 8 books that I’m hoping to read, so lets dive right in!

The Disasters by M.K. England

I started reading this one yesterday, and I’m loving it so far! It’s a futuristic space fugitive book, and wow that is a lot of descriptors. I’m super into it, and I can’t wait to finish this one up.

My Best Friend’s Exorcism by Grady Hendrix

I am so ready to read this book! It’s supposed to be a nice horror trope throwback, and it’s written by the same gent behind Horrorstör (which I loved). I’ll be diving into this as soon as I’m done with The Disasters.

Cheer Up, Mr. Widdicombe by Evan James

I don’t know anything about this one, other than it’s an adult fiction book. I was so surprised with how much I enjoyed Talk to Me and The Martin Chronicles, that I am actually excited to check this out!

Dumplin’ by Julie Murphy

I bought this book because I want to watch the Netflix movie. I’ve heard a lot of good about it, and I think we need more body positive books for young women.

The Night Before by Wendy Walker

Here’s another adult fiction, and I believe it’s a mystery or thriller book. It’ll be fun, and hopefully not drag me down too much. I’m intrigued by it, for sure!

(Don’t) Call Me Crazy edited by Kelly Jensen

This one was on my January TBR. I’ve read a couple pieces from it, but they are focused on the stigma of “crazy” and therefore mental health. Sometimes it can be really difficult to read more than one piece at a time, so I take this book slowly. I have found that it’s incredibly positive and well written, so I hope to continue enjoying it this month!

High Fidelity by Nick Hornby

My friend Brandon is constantly on my about watching High Fidelity. It seems like it may be right up my alley; a little bit of the less than cool kids, a lot of coming of age. So when I saw that there is a book, I decided that had to come before the movie. Regrettably, I made that decision mid-2018, and still haven’t read the book. So. Here we are.

The Luxe by Anna Godbersen

I saw this book (and it’s sequels) at Barnes and Noble and absolutely adored their cover designs. It looks like a gorgeous book, with some sisterly scandal.

I’m really excited for February’s reads! I’m 100 pages into The Disasters, and in love. I can’t wait to update y’all at the end of the month. Happy reading, all!
