Fence Volume One by CS Pacat, Johanna the Mad, and Joana Lafuente

I picked up this trade up awhile ago while perusing Barnes and Noble. It has gotten quite a bit of attention, and as I trust Boom! And all of its properties, I grabbed a copy. Let me tell you something, Fangirls; Fence is full of babes.

Fence is about fencing (shocking, right?). It stars Nicholas Cox, the illegitimate son of an Olympic Fencer. He does poorly at his first competition, but still gets a scholarship to a fencing school. There, he learns that the only way to keep his scholarship is to make the team. The team only has three spots, so he had better bring his A Game.

The first trade ends in the beginning of tryouts, so we don’t know how things will go for Nick. But we do know that he’s rooming with Seiji Katayama, who beat Nick at his first tournament. Nice and stressful for them both!

I really enjoyed this first trade. Everyone in it is attractive, there is drama, and there’s some romance (currently around the school playboy, Aiden, but I think it’ll be opening up a bit). It’s an incredibly fun book, that I definitely am excited to read more of.

You can pick up a copy of Fence Volume One at Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Or, you can check your local library because you’re going to want more immediately!
