I grabbed this book awhile back because I got some promotional nail polish in an OwlCrate. Promotional add-on’s: they work.
This story follows Anouk and her family as they try to save themselves. They are beasties; creatures that were once animals, but have been turned into humans by witches.
When Beau and Anouk find their witch murdered, they have just 3 days to find a new witch before the spell wears off and they turn back into animals. So they have to do the unthinkable, and turn to their witch’s nemesis for help.
There, they become enlightened to their true purpose as beasties and must find a way to get the spell from the most heavily guarded place in the world. Will they get the spell or will they turn back to animals? You’ve got to read to find out!
This book was a lot of fun, and an incredibly quick read! I blasted through this in just a couple days on lunch breaks, and while it wasn’t my favorite, it wasn’t terrible. It was an incredibly quick read, because I don’t think I was too invested in the characters. I don’t mean that in a shady way, just that these characters’ plights didn’t pull at my heartstrings as much as I thought they would. I did enjoy it, but I don’t think I’ll be buying the sequel, Midnight Beauties, in stores this August.
