Fangirls, I love pins. They’re the least expensive way to express yourself on a daily basis. You don’t have to worry about buying exclusively fandom based clothing, or the impact wearing aforementioned fandom based clothing at your job. Pins are relatively inexpensive, and come in a huge range of designs; creators all over the world are designing their own unique pins, and one of my new favorites is The Lantern Girl Shop.
Alright friends and Fangirls, we’re going to get personal very quickly today, as we’re diving right into a conversation about periods (maybe “dive” wasn’t the best word choice. Oh well). Periods can suck, because often you’re tired, you’re in pain, and sometimes you end up ruining your favorite undies. It’s the worst; nobody wants to think “oh it’s over” and then find the last remains of your happiness spotting your favorite undies. Nope. So when I was told about Harebrained’s Period Panties (by my friend Colleen, who is hilarious and perfect), I was intrigued. Then I saw the designs, and was delighted.
Fangirls, I am in love with subscription boxes. It’s a dangerous obsession, but I’m not too concerned; I can totally stop whenever I want to, I just don’t want to right now. One that I had been lusting over for quite some time was the FbFitFun box. I wanted it, but it’s a rather expensive subscription, even though it’s only 4 times a year. But a couple things worked out; I wanted a scarf that was in it (and the scarf alone is about $35), and I got a coupon code that reduced the price pretty significantly. So I sat myself down and justified the heck out of this box.
I am so glad I tried this out. I was not expecting it to be as full as it was, but as you can see, it’s packed! There were so many things in there, and I was so anxious to try them all out. But I did something I usually don’t do first; I found the booklet that tells you how much the items in the box are worth and needed to sit the heck down because I spend around $50 on this box valued at about $260. That’s so much money for these things, and they’re all worth it!
Oh, Fangirls. I have missed you so dearly. Over the last few months, I have been far, far away from Fangirls Are We, studying beverage in the wild land of college. Needless to say, spending my days in lectures on wine & spirits, writing essays about bitters, and touring breweries have deeply impacted the things my Fangirl Heart is craving this holiday season. Fellow cocktail nerds, rejoice!Read More »
Summer time is a great time to play with your style. We are from Upstate New York so when summer comes we are itching to get out of the house and show off our coatless duds. Now is the time to come out from under our covers and show our true fashion senses. We thought that we should show a little lookbook with a couple of options for the summer time. Below are two looks that show off Emily’s and my own respective styles for the summer time.
One of my favorite things to do, and ways to save money, is to shop for styles I love online or in the mall, then search for similar looks at the thrift store. You might not find exactly what you’re looking for, but you can certainly find something close, and alter it to be a custom piece of your dreams. This weekend, $10 and 20 minutes turned into two new killer crop tops.
A couple weeks back, the Mary Sue released an article about Black Widow’s lack of representation on Age of Ultron merchandise. I’ve always been upset by the lack of female characters holding their own when it comes to merchandise and clothing especially, but I was really bummed when I found that Disney wasn’t putting Widow on merchandise, even though they’ve been working with Ashley Eckstein of Her Universe for years.
