Fangirls, I’ve been diggin’ a little deeper, trying to come up with nerdy snacks and drinks, and this one truly is royalty. Not from the bayou, but tasty enough for the prince or princess in your life, this grasshopper is phenomenal.
From early on in the first book of the Potter series, it’s pretty darn clear that Albus Dumbledore is a bit mad. One of his favorite things (which he offers to McGonagall as they’re waiting for Hagrid), is the muggle candy, lemon drops. Lucky for us, there’s a lemon drop cocktail. I modified the recipe and it became a quick favorite in this Fangirl’s household.
Fangirls, one of the many movies of 2015 that it took me far too long to see, was Mad Max. Mad Max is a phenomenal movie about badass cars and the most rad of the rad characters, Imperator Furiosa. Furiosa leaves her area with the leader under the impression that she is after Guzzoline, their word for gas. Instead she’s taking his concubines away to hide in the green place, but I thought a Guzzoline drink would be more fun.
Fangirls, I like the grumpy green giant. I think he’s a cute grump, and I want to hang out with him all the time. So, when a coworker told me that there was a good way to make a drink that turns green like the Hulk, I got crazy pumped.
I think, by now, we all know that Mint Hot Chocolate is the only way to go, with me. I love mint and chocolate (York Peppermint Patties, New Year’s Cocoa, Minty Zaki’s Mudslide, everything). It’s the best way to do chocolate; put mint in it! So when I was in a mall with a spice shop (that I knew my mother would love), I dragged her in and left with some absolutely enchanting Mint Hot Chocolate mix.
I am hoping, Fangirls, that you are all as excited as I am about the female Ghostbusters film set to release later this year. In my excitement, I needed a reminder from my boy that I should attempt a Ghostbusters themed drink! I figured one out that’s pretty darn good, and a bit reminiscent of the Ecto Cooler of days past; this one is just a lot more boozy.
During the winter months, there’s rarely a better way to celebrate than with hot chocolate. I love hot cocoa more than anything during cold times; it’s sweet, it’s warm, and it’s a phenomenal thing to put your booze in. I have always sworn by putting peppermint schnapps into my hot cocoa, but this year I’m mixing it up.
