Alright Fangirls. Remember how a couple weeks ago I wrote about how I lost my mind over reading Giant Days? Well turns out the author, John Allison, wrote an earlier series, Giant Days Year One, and the comic that I read was the follow up to that. So when I saw Year One on Comixology (before i realized it came first), I was all, oh jeez I didn’t know they made a second part of the series. Obviously, I was wrong. But I’m incredibly glad that I was, because wow.
Fangirls, I first picked up giant days when it originally came out January 2015, read a couple issues, then didn’t pay it much attention. It’s a Boom! Box book, originally only going to be 6 issues long, but extended it after issue 3. It’s a wonderful comic, about three roomies in college, trying to function and figure things out.
So Victor Von Doom just shows up out of the past and expects everyone to bow to him, what’s up with that?
Alright, this is easily the cutest comic on the damn planet and to be honest I’m going to implode if they don’t start making that final “to be continued” come true. Capture Creatures is a comic that is a love letter to Pokémon, and that made me more excited to read it. I searched in a couple comic shops, but had no luck, so I ended up using Comixology to buy it digitally. It just means I get to bring it everywhere with me!
Fangirls, this stuff is too good. Last issue, Helen took her ship out too soon, and it blew up. Luckily, Captain Marvel has the quickest response time ever, and started this issue by saving her butt. She got in and grabbed Helen before she suffered too much more than a broken arm. But now, the entire base knows something’s up, and it’s unlikely that they’re going to let that slide.
Fangirls, I haven’t been to comic shop in about a month, which really stinks. But it also means that I don’t have the most recent Harley Quinn issue to review for you, so today it’s being substituted with Harley Quinn and Powergirl issues 1-3. I’m going to a shop at the end of the week for a Pre SPX party, so I’ll be able to pick up the current stuff then, but until then we’re sticking with HQ & PG.
Every time I pick up this book, I end up wanting to run around screeching, because it’s so darn good. And though I thought I peaked at best books ever, I was wrong, and Canary keeps getting better. Seeing as we’re only 3 issues in, I can’t imagine how phenomenal it’s going to get.
