This issue of Black Canary takes place much earlier in their career, and is a welcome break from all of the crazy going on in the series. It takes place at an unpublicized birthday party gig, for one very special little girl.
Oh my goodness, Fangirls. Not only am I ridiculously behind on Black Canary comics, but this one has so much happening in it that I needed to stop reading, multiple times. It starts with some great incorporated “previously on…” While the police are interrogating Byron, Paloma, and their road manager. It seems that Dinah has disappeared, the police thing Ditto and Mr Lance are dead, and that what happened at Gotham Stadium was more than what is being released to them (on that account, they’re right).
Fangirls, as I was perusing Target the other day, a book caught my eye. Now, I know that I said I’ve been having issues finishing books lately; due to time or interest, or whatever, but as soon as I saw this book, I knew it had to come home with me. I was so excited to see that the DC Super Hero Girls had come out with a book, that I lost my mind. When I got home that night, I started reading it, and got about halfway through, before realizing that it was 11pm and I had to get up for work in a couple hours.
First of all Fangirls, there is nothing like the art of this series. Annie Wu is absolutely destroying the art, and making it so beautifully unique; I can not get enough of it. Second of all, I want to relax and take a breather now that I understand Ditto a bit more, but the way this issue ends, it’s impossible to do anything but to move to the edge of my seat.
There is nothing out there like Black Canary’s series. Nothing. Not only is it gorgeous, but it’s a read that will keep you on the edge of your seat and leave you screaming for more. I have yet to read another comic that had me this locked in from the start, and has kept me wanting it.
Fangirls, the amount of crap that hit the fan in issue 5 of Black Canary absolutely astounded me. I was super taken aback by the ending, and will definitely be talking about it; so if you haven’t read this latest issue, I wouldn’t click that more tab.
Fangirls, we know by now that I love Black Canary. I love her as a character and I love her book. And according to this issue, I’m going to love her newest adversary.
