When Ashley and I decided to go to LeakyCon’s 10th anniversary, we also decided that we wanted to style each other for one of the days. We had seen tons of videos on Buzzfeed or Safiya Nygaard’s channels, so we tried it out. Let me tell you, Ashley was so much better at this than I was, but we’ll get into that in a bit. Since this was for Leaky, we went to our Hogwarts houses for inspiration.
I love me some cider, Fangirls. Other than a strong Tom Collins, hard cider is my drink of choice. However, when I’m thirsty, I don’t reach for those sugary and weak brands discreetly produced by big name companies. I live in Upstate New York, the land of craft brewing. Fangirls! A few weeks back when Emily & I were in the Boston area for Boston Comic Con, we made the best decision ever. We decided to take the advice of my best friend who lives in the area to check out a pizza shop close by in Salem. Holy cow. Not only was the pizza at Flying Saucer incredible, the establishment itself was one of the coolest places I’ve ever been. If you’re looking for a great meal with a nerdtastic atmosphere where you don’t have to pay out the nose, the Flying Saucer is your dream destination.
Fangirls! This weekend, while perusing around a few thrift stores in town, I had a vision. Last weekend at Boston Comic Con, I stopped by the table of the lovely Kate Leth. I admire her & her work a whole lot, and picked up a few things at her booth, including a kick ass “Lethbian” patch. I was racking my brain trying to figure out what to put it on. First, I thought I’d make a cool guy jean jacket. Then, an even better thought came to mind. Using this patch and a few others I had around, I was going to make my very own Fangirl scout shirt.
