Up until last night this week was a-ok. I made cupcakes for work, I pet a dog, and I hung out with a child. It was a lot, but seemed like a good situation. Last night, however, when I got home from work, I started to make the frosting for the aforementioned cupcakes. I’m excited about this whole cupcake frosting combo because it’s character themed and I have been thinking about it for awhile. But anyway, I had to make frosting.
Fangirls, if you follow my personal accounts anywhere, you know that I am obsessed with Moana. It’s an absolutely gorgeous movie that features a girl who was chosen by the ocean to grab a demigod and save the world. So when it came out on Tuesday, I was inspired to make some cupcakes that were reminiscent of the movie.
Sure, the Crystal Gems will always save the day, but they’d be super bored if it weren’t for the Homeworld Gems making things more difficult, right? I chose my three favorite Homeworld Gems; Jasper, Peridot, and Yellow Diamond and decided there would be nothing better than cupcakes devoted to them. I know Peridot is technically a Crystal Gem now, but whatever. She’s always going to be a troublemaker in my mind, so it’s all good.
Fangirls! I was trying to think of a great summer treat, when I thought of one of the most essential summer time movies; the Sandlot. I grew up watching that movie a great deal, and putting it together with a summer themed treat wasn’t hard when my favorite character came to mind. So, Fangirls, you wanna s’more?
Hey Fangirls! A couple weeks back I was lucky enough to go to Special Edition: NYC and meet some absolutely lovely independent creators. I think independent creators are some of the most amazing and inspiring people on the planet. They make what they love, and to me, that’s beautiful. Two of the individuals I met at SE:NYC were David Phillips and Sarah Braly. Let me tell you, Fangirls, these folks really know how to catch an eye. In a sea of grey and blue tables, their’s was neon green. It was littered in lovely yet despicable cupcakes, and had some really intriguing comics on top. So when my friends were looking for back issues that I wasn’t concerned with, I sneaked off to the High Fructose Zombies table.
Hey Fangirls! Today I’ve taken over Nerds Gotta Eat with some delicious cupcakes and, more importantly, frosting! I think they would be right up Cruella De Vil’s alley, because I think she’s a girl who can drink. Plus, they’re her favorite colors; black & white!
