Holy cow! Last week I traveled to Los Angeles for the incredible Starkid Homecoming (aka 10iversary)! It was a super last minute decision, but two months ago my best friend asked if I’d be able to get myself to California for the show. My answer was no, but I’ll figure it out.
Long before Darren Criss was making all the Fangirls crazy on stage as Hedwig, John Cameron Michael adapted (from the original stage musical), directed, and starred in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the movie. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of this for several years because I fell in love with “Origin of Love” at a concert a long time ago. A couple weeks ago, Ashley and I finally sat down and watched the movie. Though it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting, I still wasn’t disappointed.
Hello you lovely Starkid Fangirls! “What?! You’re not Emily or one of the other usual writers?! Who is this biddy?” Well, Fangirl, let me quickly introduce myself. My name is Kristen, otherwise known on the interwebz as “Shut Up Kristen!” I’m a 21 year old Content Creator on the YouTubez, a master at the 140 character genre, and a nerd with a tumblr. So basically- your average Fangirl. But enough about me! Let’s get down to the nitty gritty and talk about the fabulous Starkid event I attended this week at 54 Below in NYC: Twisted in concert.
Fangirls! We couldn’t think of a better thing to right about today to keep in theme with our week of Starkid than their musicial Me & My Dick. I hadn’t seen the production before, but had heard things about it, and frankly couldn’t see myself not enjoying a show about singing genitals.
So NatalieCaileen and I worked our tushies off this past week to turn the Jim and the Povolos concert into an opportunity to meet some awesome Fangirls on the streets of New York. We made a bunch of t-shirts, goodie bags for the band, and so many business cards. I was so worried that we would be laughed at, but the Starkid Fandom welcomed us with open arms.
Natalie went around and grabbed people to come talk to us about if they considered themselves Fangirls, and other funky things. This is what we got!
Gosh, I have a lot of stuff. Thank goodness for shelves.
