Fangirls, I made falafel last week, and I’m incredibly proud of myself for doing so. It’s not that it was super labor intensive, or wildly difficult, but it was something that I wanted to make, and I got my s together and made it! It’s a very fulfilling feeling. I don’t know if this falafel will make you feel as strongly as it made me feel, but it’s worth a shot, right?
Fangirls, Lucy Knisley seems like a damn rad lady. I was introduced to her work by Natalie, who wrote here for a spell. Natalie showed me French Milk, one of Knisley’s old books, about living (and eating) in France. It’s beautiful and poignant. Plus I have instant respect for creators who write and illustrate their own work. Knisley’s book, Something New, is about her relationship with her friend and on-and-off-boyfriend (now husband). It shows their relationship from the beginning through their honeymoon (which they took 5 months after the wedding). It’s a neat story, and a great way to catalogue memories.
I have really gotten into making my own pizzas. I still enjoy ordering pizzas, believe me. But there’s something satisfying about making your own pizza and enjoying it. A while back I bought a cookbook called Revolutionary Pizza by Dimitri Syrkin-Nikolau. He founded a pizza place in Chicago, and he makes unconventional pizzas. And so far, they’re pretty darn good.
Fangirls, I now live with a dude who is all about that Halloween life, and that means that Halloween starts at the end of this week. We’ll be doing Halloween all month long here, and I can not wait! One of the things this dude has done for quite some time, is watch a different Halloween / Spooky movie every day of October. It’s a great way to keep the fear alive and get ready for Halloween itself! So we’ve got some spooky updates that’ll be coming at’cha, and we’re very excited. We’re going to try to post little miniature reviews of what we watch, and once the list is finalized, we’ll both post it so you can follow along. We won’t be getting too spooky, because I am the world’s largest chicken, but there are some that I’m really excited for!
Fangirls, my boyfriend’s and my first anniversary is coming up in less than a month, and since we’re going to the places that Steven Universe is based off of, I thought it would be best to have presents that were themed accordingly. I also wanted wrapping paper and a card within the theme too, and I decided this too late to order some wrapping paper to bring it before my trip down this past weekend, so I had to make it myself.
So, the other day I had a bit of an issue. My phone turned off and refused to turn back on. I had the unfortunate luck of having to give it a hard reset. That means everything is gone; my contacts, my notes, my websites, and most importantly, my pictures. Therefore, this piece will be a bit low on images; I made the jam the week before last, and lost all of my pictures a couple days after making it.
The other day at work, I told a coworker of mine not to forget her sketchbook. She thanked me, but told me that it wasn’t a sketchbook, it was a bullet journal. My look of confusion was met with an “oh you’re gunna love this!” as she opened hers up.
