I know that Easter isn’t a huge gift givin holiday, but that doesn’t stop me from going all heart eyes for cute, springy things this time of year. Though I don’t expect any of this stuff in my basket (yes I still get a basket and it says “Princess” on it, so), there are some really cute things that I would love to become a part of my collections.
Fangirls (and Fanboys, and everyone inbetween) that time is upon us again. The Holidays.
Also known as the time when I receive anything that my family can find emblazoned with Steve Rogers on it. While I *love* Steve, I’m trying ever so hard to get my family and friends to realize that my nerdy interests are broad and ever-reaching!
For those confused by the name in the author field here, allow me to introduce myself.
I’m Marty Day, and besides being a giant nerd, I am one of the co-hosts for the super awesome, super rad traveling live art competition, Super Art Fight.
Your fine editor is looking to get awesome Holiday Wish Lists from many different folks – and perhaps foolishly, I’ve ended up in the mix as a proper fanboy to help you fangirls pick out awesome geeky gifts for the gentlemen in your life.

True confessions: I am not a Christmas person. Nope, Halloween is my holiday! It’s not that I don’t enjoy ‘the most wonderful time of the year’, there are genuinely some aspects of the holiday season that I love: homemade butter cookies we make with my Great Grandma’s antique cookie press, hot chocolate in front of a fire, decorating a big bushy pine tree, hanging out with my siblings… Making my dog wear adorable sweaters! (Cute dog+cute sweater is like my kryptonite!) But when they start putting Christmas items in stores before October has even begun and airing commercials for Christmas sales it kinda makes me wish I was a necromancer or mad evil scientist so I could unleash the zombie apocalypse the day after Thanksgiving on all the insane ‘Black Friday’ shoppers. I despise how commercial Christmas is, and hordes of holiday shoppers are practically zombies already… Yes, I know, it’s practically Grinchy! (Maybe if I put Santa hats on all the zombies?) If it was left up to me, I’d totally skip the nightmare of holiday shopping and I’d stay home enjoying a big cup of tequila spiked hot cocoa (add a pinch of cayenne for an adult version of Mexican hot chocolate!) and binge watch every Christmas horror movie ever made, starting with that perennial favorite, “Silent Night, Deadly Night.”
Its that time of year again, Fangirls! Last year we had different ladies and gents from all over the internet write up a short wishlist of the rad and nerdy things they wanted for the holidays! And now, we’re bringing it back. Mine this year is going to feature both things that I already have (but recommend to every Fangirl), and things that I desperately want in my life. I know it’s early to start on this, but my birthday is in November (so it’s two fold for me), but we also want to give you time to order things online!
Over the last few months, I’ve felt a lot more like Killer Croc than Wonder Woman, Fangirls. My weight has never bothered me much, my only concern has always just been eating healthy. Over the last year or so, though, I started to get in the habit of slipping up on my usual healthy ways. So, I’ve overhauled my snack drawer, and filled my fridge with goodies fit for a Amazonian babe. However, it’s certainly not always easy, fast, or cheap to eat healthy. But I’ve hacked my way into a lifestyle of healthy, simple eating. Read More »
Sometimes you have a bunch of scraps that can happily come together to create real DIY goodness. I had a bunch of left over scrap wood, but nothing big enough to really make anything. I also had a bunch of sheets of cork board laying that I had used for another project ages ago. One good brainstorm later, the two came easily together to make a pretty nifty and helpful thing.
