Earlier this week I read this incredible, biographical graphic novel about Andre The Giant. I knew of him from The Princess Bride, and I had a small inkling that he was involved in wresting, but I knew very little about wresting. But the graphic novel really opened my eyes to the way things are done in wrestling, and to a multitude of information on Andre The Giant.
Fangirls, this is another lovely comic from the ever lovely Marty Day. At first I was a bit out off by the title; while I do enjoy some solid smut, a castle full of sex seems like a pretty big nope for me. But when I started reading and found out it was (almost) entirely a bloody as heck action comic, I got pumped, and read on.
Be aware: this is a mature comic and images that may not be for everyone follow the break. There is blood and violence, and even a bit of sex.
Fangirls, I’ve been drooling over this book since I first saw it was coming out. I decided that it was a comic worth waiting to get physically, so I just got the first two issues this weekend. And of course, when I got them, I immediately plopped down to read them. Written by Bryan Lee O’Malley and illustrated by Leslie Hung, Snotgirl is a dream right off the bat.
I picked up this comic a couple weeks ago at Earthworld because I liked the size. It’s a small format book, much like a zine, and seemed to have art I enjoyed in it. I got it home and read it, and was incredibly happy that I picked it up.
Fangirls, every time I read Coffin Hill, my brain says something along the lines of “ohshitohshitohshit” through the entire comic. It’s intense, scary, and almost overwhelming to read at some points! Now, issue 20 is out already, but I could barely handle the intensity of these two, so I decided against adding the third today, but it’ll be up next time.
Fangirls, the other day I read my first Tank Girl tradepaperback. I bought it ages ago; she seemed like someone who wasn’t afraid of anything and did what she wanted, and that’s the type of story I like to read. To say I was not disappointed would be a massive understatement; I’ve fallen in love with Tank Girl.
It’s no secret that when it comes to the world of comics and things based on comics, I am primarily a Marvel girl. I love DC TV shows like Arrow and The Flash, and I’m really looking forward to the upcoming shows Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow. But Marvel time and again wins my heart. And the Netflix original Daredevil was no different.
