Fangirls, I’m all about those discount health treats. I saw Zuma Juice advertised on Facebook. I ordered my super discounted packets (which came with a blender bottle and a sticker), and got to drinking.
‘ve been thinking about smoothies a lot, lately. I usually allow myself one bolthouse smoothie a week, but those bad boys are expensive and many are from concentrate (which means I’m getting more water than I’d like from them). So I looked up some healthy smoothies (aka I listened to YouTube tutorials on smoothies for an entire work day), and decided to make my own recipe. I was originally going to call them Lion Lickers because my hope was that they would be pink, but they are brown, so it doesn’t work.
My trips to the liquor store have become far less frequent since my move last year. Drinking isn’t a priority, so alcohol comes at the very far bottom of my “things to spend money on” list. It’s just not important to me. Sure, I’ll have a drink when I go out, but it’s usually from the same pool of drinks that I’ve come to enjoy. Honestly, that’s how liquor store trips go as well.
I made this drink the other day, and popped it in the freezer to be a tasty post work out treat. It’s full of berries and protein powder, so it’s sweet but also healthy! Let’s get right into it.
Fangirls, as I’ve been working to lose weight, I’ve noticed that my interest in drinking has taken a steady delicate. I allow myself a limited number of calories daily, and therefore find it incredibly difficult to justify drinking my calories away.
I am working rather hard to get healthier, and feel better about myself, so I don’t see the need to put all of my hard work to waste by drinking often; I do still have a drink on occasion, but I don’t drink weekly, or even bi-weekly. Also, it had become a struggle to stay creative with NGD articles, as I just wasn’t feeling it a lot of the time. So my solution is to both problems; toss Nerds Gotta Drink.
Now, this won’t be gone forever, and it’s not guaranteed that it will be gone. Since I’m working on keeping the site more casual and comfortable, I’m not going to pressure myself to write about drinks biweekly, only when I make something that’s delicious and worth sharing. Otherwise I feel it’s a waste of both my and your time, and we both deserve better. So I will be writing more often about the tasty meals I make for myself and my family. I think this will be great because I get to work on my love of food photography and my love of trying new foods. Plus you get to see how great healthy food can be! It’s a win-win.
I appreciate your understanding and support of the changes I’m making, and I am very excited to be sharing new, healthier recipes with you from here on out.
Have you Fangirls seen Aristocats? If you haven’t go watch it immediately. It’s a phenomenal movie about how this old woman is leaving her house and fortune to her cats, so her butler drugs them and catnaps them and throws them off a bridge. Luckily, these cats have boxy, so they team up with various other animals to get themselves home. I based this drink off of the drink that the butler, Edgar, makes for the cats, that he calls Creme de la Creme de la Edgar, because it’ll knock you out if you’re not careful.
Fangirls, one of the many movies of 2015 that it took me far too long to see, was Mad Max. Mad Max is a phenomenal movie about badass cars and the most rad of the rad characters, Imperator Furiosa. Furiosa leaves her area with the leader under the impression that she is after Guzzoline, their word for gas. Instead she’s taking his concubines away to hide in the green place, but I thought a Guzzoline drink would be more fun.
