Of course this was a cover buy. This art is so dang good, I can’t handle it. But what’s under the cover is so much better, it’s mind blowing.
Fangirls, Boom! Studios is absolutely killing it recently. They extended Lumberjanes and now Giant Days, and released this beauty from Kate Leth and Matt Cummings last week, and it’s amazing. Everything is so great, and I am falling in love with everything they do.
Due to the fact that I crave the healing sound of women rocking the heck out, I couldn’t resist making another Gal Power playlist. Since then, I’ve of course discovered plenty of bands held together by pure rock & the unbreakable female bond, as well as other women who slay the scene solo. When I know of this many women who are simply incredible at what they do, I have to mash it all together for an ultimate jam.
This is one of those bands where I discovered them ages ago, listened, loved it, and somehow just stopped listening. Sometimes good stuff gets a bit buried when other good stuff comes along. Regardless, I’ve gotten very much back into this group. A rediscovery, if you will. Their music has been the perfectly unique & fun pick up for some downright sappy winter blues.
Fangirls, I’ve noticed a big trend is men thinking that women wear make-up to please them. Though for some that may be true, for many it is not.
Fangirls, though maybe it seems odd, I like to talk about topics that seem to scare people a bit. Topics surrounding sexuality that make people kind of nervous are one of the reasons I love having sexually educating articles & conversations. I don’t want people to feel uncomfortable about this stuff. I’ve found that S/M is something that gets people a little on edge. But it really doesn’t need to be so frightening of a thing. It’s just another type of sex act like anything else. It just gets very misunderstood. People view it as aggressive, something only people with a type of perversion or mental instability par take in. However, once more understood, more people realize they enjoy all sorts of power play involved in their sex.
Fangirls! Awhile back, I picked up a pretty awesome book at the comic shop. I flipped around through it, but this week I finally got around to giving it some proper love. Girl Comics is a collection released by marvel that isn’t just a bunch of comics about women, it’s comics made my women. And hot damn, is this stuff great.
